Today we are going to write about the advantages and disadvantages of Onsite Parking at Tucson International Airport.
Tucson Airport Parking Advantages
- Potentially Lower Price
Tucson Airport Parking Disadvantages
- Your vehicle is left unattended in a public place
- You must haul your luggage all the way to the airport from the parking lot.
- If you use off site parking you will have to wait for the shuttle In Tucson’s heat.
Convenience – Taking your own vehicle is by far the most convenient way to get to the airport, It allows you all the comforts of your own vehicle, and you can load your luggage throughout the night / morning. This convenience definately comes at a price though onsite parking for TUS is $9.00 per day. From what we have seen the average person that goes on a trip or vacation is usually gone for 7 – 10 days. Thats $63-$70 dollars just for parking, that does not include gas. However there is something to be said about the comfort of your own vehicle and very well may be worth it.
Potentially Lower Price – For those traveling under 5 days, the price for you to drive yourself to the airport is almost always lower. After 5 days though, those parking fees really start to add up. If you are on a tight budget and only planning on being gone for 1 – 5 days, Airport Parking is a great value.
Vehicle Left Unattended – Leaving your vehicle in a public parking lot unattended for an extended period of time can definitely be worrisome. You have to remember to remove any electronics such as GPS units, radios, laptops, and portable DVD players, before you go to the airport or risk having them stolen, un hooking all of these electronics can sometimes be a pain. Believe it or not this type of thing can happen very easily. The more common problem is of course dings and dents in your car when you return. As people park to close to your vehicle and open there doors dinging your door in the process. Without anyone there to witness it they unfortunately probably will not leave their insurance informaiton on your windshield. All of these worries could be completely avoided if your vehicle was safe and secure at your home.
Hualing Luggage – When parking at the Onsite Airport Parking you generally must haul your luggage about 300 yards or more. Going from your vehicles parking spot to the main terminal entrance, up the elevator and then finally to your airline. This can definitely be a chore if you have more bags than you can carry. And of course they don’t seem to have any of the $3 luggage carts in the parking lot to rent. When you have someone else take you to the airport they will drop you off on the upper level right next to your airline, you will only need to walk about 8 feet with your luggage to curbside check in.
But what about Off Site Parking – Off site parking is an even greater value, but it still has one very large draw back over Onsite Parking. You must call for and then wait for the next shuttle to take you to or from the airport. In Tucson’s heat you can quickly imagine how uncomfortable this could become in just 15 minutes.
In short parking onsite at Tucson International Airport is $9.00 / day. For those planning on being gone for more than 5 days we would highly recommend an Airport Shuttle instead, most of our shuttles are under $30.00 and you would not only be saving money but you would not leaving your vehicle at risk.
